Prayer time effortless and easy
Mimi created the prayer book GOD HEALED ME to make prayer time effortless and easy so that others may find similar comfort and healing.

The Power of God’s Word
There is nothing God’s Word cannot accomplish!
“By the word of the Lord were the heavens made and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.”

Blessings and healing
Before Mimi started reading the Bible she experienced despair and despondency. She was ready to throw in the towel.BK HEALING SQ Healing Book Back cover 090516
Nowadays with her new found faith, Mimi’s days are filled with hope and comfort, peace, joy, love, blessings and healing. Mimi discovers what churches and believers have known for millennia; God’s Word heals. It truly does!

… I am the Lord who heals you… So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Survey on prayer
A survey on prayer from Belief.net shows us that 68% of Christians pray more than once a day. More than 70% of all Christians and Jewish people pray for health and safety, and respectively 93% and 74% pray for God’s guidance.

Only 0.6% of Christians think that their prayers are never answered whilst 2.9% of Jewish people think the same.

In contrast a whopping 43% of Christians say that their prayers are often answered whilst 27.5% says that they are ALWAYS answered.

Jewish people say that 12.7% of their prayers are always answered and 33.1% often.

More statistics from the survey are listed in GOD HEALED ME.

The power of prayer
In a randomized, double-blind study at coronary-care unit at San Francisco general Hospital with cardiologist Randolph Byrd, 393 patients were studied and neither the doctors and nurses nor the patients knew who would be the object of prayer.

Dramatic prayer results surprised many scientists.
Patients who were prayed for needed fewer drugs and spent less time on ventilators. They fared better overall than their counterparts. GOD HEALED ME lists the interesting and promising results of this study.

Prayer gets people better faster
“Studies have shown prayer can prevent people from getting sick, and when they do get sick, prayer can help them get better faster.”
An exhaustive analysis of more than 1,500 reputable medical studies “indicates people who are more religious and pray more have better mental and physical health.”
Dr. Harold G Koenig of Duke University.

Prayer works
“Prayer works,” says Dr. Matthews, associate professor of medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C., after reviewing more than 200 studies linking religious commitment and health, cited in his book, The Faith Factor.
Dr. Matthews cites studies suggesting that, people who pray are less likely to get sick, are more likely to recover from surgery and illness, and are better able to cope with their illnesses than people who don’t pray.

Thirty medical schools in America now offer courses in faith and medicine.

GOD HEALED ME is the first in a series of twelve books about the Mercy, Miracles and Promises in GOD’S HOLY WORD.

THE WAYWARD SHEEP: MY JOURNEY TO SALVATION

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

GOD IS LOVE

Do you know that God is Love? Aren’t you always taught that?
Well, I didn’t think so, not when I saw how my mum and sisters suffered and He allowed WAYWARDthem to suffer. Where was His love, mercy and compassion? God had never figured in my life, although I was educated in schools run by Christian missionaries. Now I was forced to confront Him.

I sat helpless, as copious tears flowed down my sister’s cheeks. Her eyes, red and swollen, were pools of bewildered despair.
“Why me? Why me? Why?” she sobbed. I knew she was thinking of her children, who were still in high school. They still needed her. What would happen to them? Who would look after them?
My heart contracted and my tears welled up as I watched her, consumed by her misery and grief.

The doctor had earlier confirmed that she had “the big C.” C for Cancer. She had breast cancer. Cancer, the dreaded disease. It strikes terror in all women, especially breast cancer.
It meant losing one’s crowning glory, becoming bald and ugly. It meant losing one’s breasts and becoming de-womanized. It meant Death was beckoning. Having cancer was a fate too horrible to contemplate, let alone for one to accept it.

I held my sister’s hand, not knowing what to say. Even as my tears rolled down my cheeks, could I in all honesty say, “I wish it were me and not you”? What good would it do, even if it were true?
In fact, I was in dread, too. When would it be my turn? I squeezed her hand in our shared grief, hoping to convey what I had no words for.

My mind was in turmoil, my thoughts churning over and over. Our mother was at home, dying from cancer and lying in a drug-infused stupor.

“Meg, Renee is undergoing emergency surgery. Ovarian cancer, stage four. She may not make it.”

Dear God! God was taking away three mothers in her family, God who is Love. She had to take on God! Consumed with fear and hatred for God, desperate to help Renee who had a young family dependent on her, find out how Meg stands up to God whom she had rejected over and over, because of ancestral worship practiced in her family. Follow her on her journey.

MY REVIEW

With God all things are possible and nothing is impossible with God. Peggy Chan is the perfect example of this as she shares her heartache when many family members around her die of a terminal illness. Peggy shakes her fist at God, asking why? And who would blame her?

Then Peggy attempts to bargain with God and in the process finds HIS love and mercy.

I was moved by this story. The promise is that if you seek God you will find Him and Peggy did. Amen.

Thank you for sharing your story with us Peggy. A story of love and salvation, beautifully told.

A Miracle in the Making: A Journey of Faith, Hope & Love

NEW BOOKS REVIEWS

A Miracle in the Making: A Journey of Faith, Hope & Love

A Miracle in the Making was written by Patricia Batoba Jones.

BOOK DESCRIPTION

God, where are you?

Have you ever asked, “God, where are you? How could you let this happen to me? How can something good ever come out of this horrible situation?”

A MIRACLE IN THE MAKINGThese were the questions Patricia Jones asked God during the 133 days her baby spent in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) fighting for her life. The faith Patricia had stood on most of her life would be challenged when she found herself questioning God’s promise, plan, and purpose.

Miracles experienced
In this moving memoir, Jones writes about her family’s search for answers and the miracles they experienced in the midst of the biggest storm of their lives. She learned to walk out her faith – not just quote Biblical verses. This is a story of how faith, hope and love helped one family triumph over pain, and the hidden treasures they discovered during their journey.

Jones reminds us that God can truly work miracles and that the lessons we learn from our most difficult trials can bring us the greatest joy and peace of heart.

MY REVIEW

A story of faith, hope and love. Wonderful story and beautifully told!

A story of faith, hope and love. I read the book in one sitting.

With God all things are possible and nothing is impossible with God. Patricia tells her story beautifully.

What I loved much about Patricia’s journey with her premmie is that she believed God’s truth over and above what appeared to be facts. And she held on to that truth.

Wonderful story and beautifully told!

Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path

Which Bible to read?

We all have our favourites and below I’ll share mine with you.

I think that any Bible is better than no Bible and the following Bibles are just a guideline and a few of my favourite Bibles and books from my bookshelf as well as links to some of my favourite sites.

Do I have a favourite Bible? I started reading the Kings James Bible and this is my go-to Bible because I love the poetic language and can find things easily and quickly in this Bible.

Jewish Bible

JEWISH BIBLE

Jewish Bibles don’t contain the gospels and other books from the New Testament but it is good to  remember that the Jewish Bible (re-labeled Old Testament by Christianity) is the authority on the history of the Jewish people and their relationship with GOD. Jesus is of Jewish heritage that is traced all the way back to King David’s lineage. Jesus’ teachings are based on the Jewish Bible and He quotes extensively from the Scripture from the prophets of old.

JPS Hebrew-English

The JPS Hebrew-English Tanakah is an obvious choice because it has the Hebrew verses alongside the English translation.

King James Life Application Study Bible

LASB

For beginners, I like the King James version Life Application Study Bible from Tyndale House Publications because it has handy commentary on each page. And even though I don’t necessarily agree with all the commentary, overall for beginners the commentary is helpful to understand events in the  context of the history and culture of the Jewish nation.

Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible

STRONGS

Strong’s Concordance contains a Hebrew and Aramaic Dictionary of the Jewish Bible (named Old Testament by Christians) and a Greek Dictionary of the New Testament. It is truly exhaustive because every word and every reference in the King James version is indexed. I like this version because it has slightly larger print.

The Brown-Driver-Bridges Hebrew and English Lexikon.

BROWN DRIVER LEXIKON

The Lexikon provides not only dictionary definitions for each word, but it relates to how each word is used in the Old Testament, and it categorises the nuances of meaning for each word.

Interlinear Greek-English New Testament

THE INETERLINEAR

The Interlinear Greek-English New Testament by Jay P. Green claims to be the only complete interlinear Bible available in English. It is keyed to Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance. It contains the complete Hebrew and Greek texts with a direct English rendering below each word as well as the Literal Translation of the Bible in the outside column. It’s a lot of fun, this one!

Young’s Literal Translation

YOUNGS LITERAL

The Young’s Literal Translation of the Bible is another of my favourites. I really like the language of Young’s Literal because it is a strictly literal translation of the original Hebrew and Greek texts.

Various King James versions

I started off with an authorised 1611 translation of the King James Bible and an original version. At the moment, I use an authorised King James Version copyright 1984 by the Zondervan Corporation.

The Oxford Annotated Apocrypha

OXFORD

I also have in my library the Oxford Annotated Apocrypha.  I enjoyed reading  the Apocrypha. The word Apocrypha means hidden and generally contains 1 Esdras, 2 Esdras, Tobit, Judith, the Rest of Esther, the Wisdom of Solomon, Sirach, (also titled Ecclesiasticus), Barach, The Letter of Jeremiah, Song of the Three Young Men, Susanna, Bel and the Dragon, The Additions to Daniel, The Prayer of Manasseh, and 1 and 2 Maccabees which were written by Jewish people between 300 and 100 B.C.

The books accepted as inspired that are included in the Catholic Bible are Tobit, Judith, 1 and 2 Maccabees, Wisdom of Solomon, Sirach (also known as Ecclesiasticus), and Baruch.

It is my understanding that Jewish people don’t recognise these books as being canonical. I don’t think that Jesus or the apostles ever quoted from the apocryphal books.

Bible Gateway and  Biblehub

Bible Gateway.com and Biblehub.com are great for research on the web. With options to look at parallel and linear bibles, listen to sermons, search topics, search the Strong’s, look at the Hebrew words and look words up in the Lexicon.

These are the websites which I use for most my Bible research. www.Biblehub.com  offers 39 different Bible translations and http://www.BibleGateway.com offers 53 different Bible translations for study purposes. You cannot go wrong with that.
In addition, with a mere click I can access the Strong’s Concordance, NAS Exhaustive Concordance, Englishman’s Concordance, Brown-Driver-Briggs and Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance.

Sample Various Bible Translations copyright Bible Hub

Love each other 1

LOVE 2

love 3

On both Bible gateway and Biblehub, many of the commercial versions of the Bible can be lined up aside or below each other to see the various translations.

Commentary

Commentary is provided for most Bible verses on both www.Biblehub.com and www.Biblegateway.com. The commentary helps when more background is needed to understand a verse fully.

Audio

www.Biblegateway.com provides options to listen to the Bible in various translations.

E Sword

For many years I used the free Bible software eSword and was very happy with this. At some stage I switched to a mac and couldn’t get used to the online mac version of esword. I now have both mac as well as PC and intend to start using eSword again.

Mac software

MACSWORD

On and off I use MacSword which is a free & open-source application. It contains many different bible translations in different languages, devotionals, commentaries, dictionaries and lexicons.

Franklin

I own a small electronic device by Franklin which facilitates the finding of Bible verses. Nowadays with the smart phones it should be easy enough to find any Bible reference on a smart phone.

To understand Scripture better

NEHEMIA

To understand Scripture better we listen to Biblical scholar Nehemia Gordon when he interviews ‘Hebrew Voices.’ Nehemia is a Karaite Jew and what I like about Karaite Judaism  or Karaism (also spelt Qaraite Judaism or Qaraism), (/ˈkærə.aɪt/ or /ˈkærə.ɪzəm/; Hebrew: יהדות קראית), is that it means, “Readers of the Hebrew Scriptures.” Kataite Judaism is a Jewish movement characterized by the recognition of the Tanakh alone as its supreme legal authority.
This practice is similar to my belief of Sola Scripture, where God’s Word, and not a religious leader, denomination or church, is considered the authority.

Free Scripture Card Site

SCRIPTURE CARDS

In gratitude, I developed www.liveforeverhowto.net 12 sets os Sce. From this site you can send free Scripture cards to your friends and family. This site is under reconstruction.

MOSAIC HOUSE – Scripture Cards for various occasions

MH

At Mimi’s Original Scripture & Inspirational Card House, (site is under reconstruction) you can buy hard copies of Scripture Cards. These are the same verses that helped me through medical emergencies and other calamities in my life and brought me hope, comfort, blessings, healing, peace, prosperity, love and joy.

Hebrew Gospel of Matthew

The Hebrew Gospel of Matthew is a good resource to find out what was said in the original version.

Dead Sea Scrolls

The Dead Sea Scrolls provide historical significance and a priceless link to the background of the Bible.

Best option – Learn Hebrew

KEITH

Our best option to understand GOD’s Word fully is to learn Hebrew and find out for our self what the prophets of old really said. You can check out Biblical Foundations Academy where Keith Johnson  is offering a Biblical Hebrew Audio Course for people who are interested in learning Hebrew.

Above I’ve listed some of the resources that I use when reading Scripture or listening to God’s Word or for research when I write my books.

I’d love to hear about your best and favourite Biblical resources.
